With Zachari, our fifth curated collection, we wanted to create something really moody and masculine.
Inspiration for the collection came from churning seas and dark stormy skies, the brooding of a deep thinker, but with a heart of gold. Zachari is stylish, deep, sexy, sophisticated, masculine and boyish all at the same time, he’s undone yet considered. It was this depth and contrast of character that we wanted to play with.

In Greek ‘zachari’ means sugar while in the Urban Dictionary ‘Zach’ is the name of a person who is often smart, cunning, dresses well and likes to have fun. He attracts people with his intellect, jokes and good smile. It was important for the collection to capture both the sweet side of Zachari as well as the masculine moodiness so that the look wasn’t too sombre or cold.
We actually decided on the name Zachari after one of our gorgeous supplier’s, Wax Muse, sent us a candle sample with the namesake. The scent was of sun warmed figs and delicate cassis, enhanced with notes of cedarwood and hyacinth.

Deep navy, black pepper and shades of grey create a dark and alluring palette. While the carefree spirit of the photographic print and the rich tobacco and amber notes add warmth, speaking to Zachari’s softer side.
Blue, especially navy, is big in interiors at the moment, even for wall colour. It’s great to see bold choices with walls again after a long time with safe default white. For our walls we used “Gloomy Sky” by Haymes Paint but if a bold feature wall scares you tone the look down with “Ash Grey” in a half strength also by Haymes (which we used for our Monochrome and Winter Wonderland collections).

The hero of the collection is the “Somersault” print by Mornington Peninsular photographer Peter McConchie. Peter took this shot on an old film camera back in the 1990’s in the Northern Territory. A photographer for over 20 years, Peter is also the founding director of social justice organisation People Culture Environment, working proudly and passionately with Indigenous People, their Culture and the Australian Environment.
The graininess and energy of the photo create an incredible sense of nostalgia. With it’s tonal contrast of light and shade, the print was the perfect centrepiece for the Zachari collection.
We kept furniture sleek and structural. Domo were kind enough to loan us the amazing oak Alburni side table and the Nick Rennie Atelier floor lamp. For sale under ‘Furniture’ is the Gus Hallifax chair by Globe West which is equal parts modern, cool and bold, while the Mister Moss slate side table/magazine rack has been so popular we sold out of stock in 3 days! Steel and metal work well with the Zachari look as does raw or recycled timber.
We’ve created two full room packs where you can buy the whole look – a Living Room and a Bedroom Pack. As well as three Accessory Packs, perfect for gifting (don’t forget Father’s Day coming up) and a new range of Nathan + Jac cushions.
